FAQ (or otherwise known as what I need to know about Veritas)
When and where do you meet?
We meet Sundays at 10:30 AM (with the first fifteen minutes designated for relational engagement) on the second floor of HUB 450 (450 North Prince Street Lancaster, PA 17603). Musical worship generally begins at 10:45 AM.
Where do I park?
There is a parking lot on the side of the building, as well as a small parking garage. There is street parking as well.
What do you offer for children on Sunday morning?
On Sunday morning we offer a Children’s ministry for birth-5th grade. Birth-Kindergarten and First through Fifth Grade. The children are with the community for the first half of the worship gathering and then transition into Children’s Ministry during the sermon time, for their own learning, crafts and snack.
What do I wear on a Sunday morning?
Whatever you are comfortable wearing. Your Sunday best? Great. Jeans and Sneakers? Wonderful. Shorts and Flip Flops? That’s awesome. Just come as you are and what you normally are comfortable wearing.
What does a typical Sunday morning look like?
We try to live by the adage, “Where predictability is high, impact is low”, which means that we try to mix up the worship gathering in different ways. We will, in the majority of our time together, have a time of musical worship, of prayer, of Bible exploration, and of unpacking the Scriptural text in community.
But some Sundays we might use Lectio Divina (https://www.communitiesofcalling.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Lectio-Divina-Guide.pdf) as our Bible exploration, or we might do a more Dialogical teaching method (don’t worry if you are new to this — we will talk you through it!) Some Sundays we might spend time in meditative prayer or join with two other people to share prayer requests and pray together. Some Sundays we might share stories about how we have lived into the three parts of our vision (How have we pursued Jesus this week? How have we sought to build the family of Jesus this week/done life with others followers of Jesus? How have been seeking the Kingdom/Been a blessing in the world?). Two times per year (First Sunday in October and Palm Sunday) we gather for our Table Gathering which includes preparation, mediations, feet washing, a simple meal, and communion. And some Sundays we just gather around food and fellowship.
Do you gather at any times other than Sunday morning?
During the Fall and Spring we meet in Community Groups that happen during the week in homes.
We also encourage people to develop relationships with each other throughout the week by inviting each other over for dinner, hold game nights, go grab coffee together, exercise together, or just go watch a movie.
